Just One Wish give-away

Guess who just got a book trailer for Just One Wish? Yes, that’s right, Andie my intrepid Rent-a-Teenager has done it again. In honor of the book trailer, I’ll be giving away a copy of the book. Get it now while the background is blue–when it goes to paperback, Putnam is changing all of that blue stuff to pink. I don’t know why. Perhaps the lips are now blowing dandelions at sunset. Mine is not to question the bow-tied one’s decisions.

If you want a chance to win, leave a comment about something you liked in the book trailer. And let me know if you’re a follower, because despite what your mother told you in junior high about being a follower, it does pay off here. You’ll get double chances. Good luck!

    I’m a follower. O:)

I love the humor–especially the line that she would go to the ends of the earth for her brother, so what’s a trip to Hollywood? And I love how it closed, with that’s the danger of wishing. (Paraphrasing very much here as I have a goldfish memory. >.<)

What DON’T I love about this book trailer? First of all, there’s the music…I LOVE the music. And the end line about the dangers of wishing was pretty awesome. Your Rent-A-Teenager is pretty good at this kind of thing! I would LOVE a copy of “Just One Wish”. Unfortunately, I am not a follower (although I should be, I have no clue why I’m not) but still, enter me! 🙂

Good eye, Merry, that is indeed my daughter who I drag into photo shoot poses all of the time. Sometimes she gets to snuggle with hot guys. I don’t think that’s a bad thing, really.

I like the picture of Asenath with Hottie McHotterson. Is that the kind of boy that goes to BYU these days? If so, I was born at the wrong time.

You are kidding me! I had a Spanish class with Asenith, and then she also works in a part of the library that I make my students use to get familiar with research. What a small world!

    Dear Jannete Rallison,
I just read your book Just One Wish and I just want to say your a cruel heartless person. My heart sunk as soon as I read that they couldn’t get all of Jeremy’s tumor out. After all the praying and all the sacrifices, she find’s out her brother’s going to die in a few weeks any way.
Screw you Jannete!!! We already have enough bad news in the world and your book isn’t helping anything. YOU SUCK

    Signed,
A 13 year old girl who just cried her heart out after reading your depressing book.

  32. Asenath
    December 9, 2009 at 6:30 pm

Are you kidding me Ms. Anonymous poster? Have you actually READ any of the other books out there? THOSE are depressing. Janette Rallison’s book are the least depressing things I’ve ever read.

Look, I’m sorry if the book struck a chord with you. If someone in your family has suffered from cancer, then I’m sorry. That’s hard. (But hey,did you ever stop to think if maybe the author of this book has suffered from a loved one having cancer too?)

But, let me ask you–if there are enough depressing things in this world, why are you adding to them? Do you think insulting someone like that makes them feel good? What good does that do?

I know you’re only 13, but please learn to be more considerate in the future.

    December 9, 2009 at 7:48 pm

    Annonymous–
I’m really not trying to add any more pain to the world. I wrote this book because I was upset with books where people died (It seems like that is every other book)and the main character is told, “S/he’ll live on in you.” I lost my mother to cancer when I was young and that approach never brought me much comfort. I don’t want my mother to live on inside of me. I want her to live on for real, in heaven where I can one day see her again.

Because even the most happy, joyful lives end in death. If there isn’t a God and there isn’t a heaven then life is the most depressing story you will ever read. So I wrote Just One Wish as a response to those other books, and if you read all the way to the end, you’ll see that.

But I’m sorry, really, that it struck you the wrong way.

I assume this means you don’t want to be entered in the drawing to win the book . . .

Anonymous, I’m sorry for whatever you’ve been through that accounts for your reaction to the book. Whatever it is, I hope you find peace and comfort.

Janette is a beautiful person with a very loving and generous heart as you can see from her response to your comment. Death is a difficult subject, but it’s what we were all born to do, die.

Thirteen seems too young to feel such hurt. There is still beautiful to behold in this world. It took me a long time to find it, but I did.

I just wanted to say that I stayed up until 2am this morning to finish this book! I couldn’t put it down. I had to wipe tears off my cheeks and blow my nose so I wouldn’t get snot all over my pillow when I finally went to bed, but I really, really liked it. Fab book.
