Surviving 2020

Everyone is a little shaken up this year

I just realized that it’s been a long time since my last blog–and seeing that this is 2020 and I’m in the oldish demographic, some of you (Do people actually read blogs anymore?) may wonder if I’m still alive and writing.

Yes, yes I am.

I’m done with the first draft of the cowboy romance (and waiting for my writers’ group to finish theirs. You’ll love them all!) And I’m 200 pages into a medieval fantasy. So I’m back to researching vague things about the Middle Ages like how they danced. (No one is quite sure. Thanks, history scholars…)

And doing some other stuff that I can’t discuss because…contracts. So it just seems like I haven’t been working because nothing new has come out, but I really am.

I just don’t have anything to show for it except my messy desk.

One day I’ll have time to clean it off…

I think in the Middle Ages they danced pretty much the way you are in the photo. Only with a partner. And wearing medievally clothes.

Those must have been some fun dances.

I saw you on Instagram so I knew you were alive and well, but I’m always glad to see a blog post from you. Thanks for the update!

Social media is the only way I know some people are still alive. So it is good for that…

I’ve grown to hate going on social media lately, and I haven’t been calling or texting much for about as long, so I sometimes worry that people are worrying that I’m dead. Just not quite enough to actually post anywhere.

I’m glad that you’re doing ok. I’ve thought about asking something on your last post a few times, probably about how the cowboy romance was going, but was never sure exactly what to say.

Just post: How’s your cowboy? on my Facebook posts and let people wonder.

I need to revise it but right now I’m working on the medieval fantasy and waiting for my other friends to finish theirs. We’re hoping to release the whole cowboy series by Valentine’s Day.

I just finished your third book in the “Godmother” series and I desperately hope you will write more of them!

Thanks for loving the series! You’re brilliant! I always planned on writing a fourth book. And hopefully I still will once the time fairy starts granting me more hours in the day. The reason the series didn’t finish was that my publisher was dissolved right at the time that I wrote the third book. (Which is why that one was self-published instead of Walker doing it.) I know that when I write a fourth book, a traditional publisher won’t take it because the series was started at a different publisher. So the last book will be self-published too and since I have other projects with actual deadlines, the last fair godmother book has been languishing on the back burner. But one day I will get to it.

Hmmm. I need to figure out how to get a few more hours of writing time into each day so I can get all my projects done.

Glad you are doing great and keeping busy. I’ve been a big fan of yours since middle school. I’ve been re-reading your books lately. They are just as hilarious and fun as I remember. My personal favorite were your Pullman High books. (My personal favorite is Revenge of the Cheerleaders. Nothing beats that hilarious scene where Chelsea realizes who Tanner is related to.) Those characters never fail to entertain me, no matter how many times I read the books. Also, I wanted to point out that Rachel is probably my favorite side character you’ve written. Probably has to do with her humorous outlook on life and the fact that we share names. Would love it if you ever decide to revisit them. In the meantime, looking forward to your new books!

Ah, thanks! It would be fun to write another book to that series, but right now I’ve got a bunch of books in the queue. Maybe someday, though.

I really enjoy the medieval time travel that happens in some of your books so I’m excited to read the book when it comes out!
